3C2A Men's Soccer Playoff Information

Reserve forward Manalo Joaquin scored two second-half goals to send No. 3-seed Evergreen Valley College (14-3-3) to the third round of the 3C2A Playoffs following a 2-0 win over No. 14-seeded Taft (10-6-6).

EVC will next face No. 11-seeded Cabrillo (11-5-5) on Tuesday at home. Cabrillo defeated No. 6-seeded Folsom 1-0.

Following a scoreless half in which EVC possessed the ball in the forward half for much of the first 45 minutes, Joaquin broke the stalemate with a laser from the top of the box to make it 1-0 in the 57th minute. Twelve minutes later, Joaquin took a pass from Roberto Martinez and scored from the right side in the 69th minute to make it 2-0.

It was EVC's ninth shutout of the season.
