3C2A Women's Soccer Playoff Information
Bianca Ahumada scored her third goal of the 3C2A Playoffs, and No. 9-seeded Evergreen Valley College (16-6-1) tied a program record with 16 wins as they defeated No. 8-seeded Lake Tahoe (12-6-4) 2-0.
EVC will next travel to top-seeded Folsom Lake (20-0-2) on Tuesday, following FLC's 7-1 win over No. 16-seeded American River. This is EVC's first time in the third round of the 3C2A Playoffs.
Ahumada got the Hawks on the scoreboard in the 68th minute, converting a free kick from 25 yards out past a diving Coyote keeper, Molly Adams, to make it 1-0.
Just three minutes later, EVC goalkeeper Sophia Diaz made one of her three saves on the night off a shot by Emily Brandt to keep LTC scoreless. With time winding down in a 1-0 game, Diaz again saved a game-tying goal in the 88th minute off the foot of Alyssa Allan.
In extra time, EVC's Mischa Diaz secured the victory with a shot from 12 yards out to make it 2-0.
The 16 wins by EVC match the 2012 team for victories.
